What is ADD?
ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is a diagnosed disorder which affects concentration, attention span and the ability to focus on the task at hand.
ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity) is usually much easier to identify. Apart from their difficulties with concentration and memory, children and adults with ADHD often have associated behavioral problems in class, at home and in the workplace, due to their impulsive behavior and hyperactivity. (For safe and effective treatment for ADHD, see Focus ADHD Formula.)

One of the difficulties in diagnosing ADHD is that it’s often found in conjunction with other problems. These are called coexisting conditions, and about two thirds of all children with ADHD have one.
The most common coexisting conditions are:
Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder (CD)

Butterfly Feeders
This is a fun project that’s easy enough for the kids to do, and it can be as elegant or as simple as you like. All you need is a small jar, such as a baby food or small jelly jar with a lid, and some cotton.
1. Make a small hole in the lid of the jar. 2. Fill the jar with butterfly food. 3. Screw the lid tightly onto the jar and poke a small piece of cotton into the hole. 4. Invert the jar and hang it in the garden.

Adderall is a stimulant medication used in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in both children and adults. It is made from a combination of four amphetamine compounds. Adderall is useful because it covers a broader range of ADHD symptoms than a single compound medication such as Ritalin, and because it is a “one a day” dosing. A child with attention deficit disorder usually has to take only one dose of adderall per day to get through school and get his homework done. Adderall is also often used instead of Ritalin because it is less “harsh,” having less of a reported “rebound effect” in children and teens than Ritalin.

“Children have problems too! Many medicines for children contain additives, artificial colors and preservatives. Some are addictive and others may cause side effects which end up being worse than the condition that they are supposed to treat. Even some herbal medicines should not be given to children under the age of 12, unless supervised by a health care practitioner! Parents are understandably concerned and may feel confused about what they can and can not give their children.

Bath time is the perfect opportunity for parents and children to really get to know each other and spend quality time together.
How you view “bath time” is up to you. Many parents choose to treat it as a chore and dread the evenings - as do their children. In many homes, bath time is about as boring as brushing teeth. You, however, can choose to turn bath time into something special, which both you and your child will look forward to every day. For a child, bath time should be a transition between the noisy, busy world of day and the peaceful, cosy world of bed. With very little effort on your part you can make it a magic time for both of you.

What current research is being conducted?
In recent years, scientists have developed new ways to study the human brain through imaging. Imaging is a powerful tool that allows the monitoring of brain activity without any surgery. Imaging studies are already giving scientists new insights into auditory processing. Some of these studies are directed at understanding auditory processing disorders. One of the values of imaging is that it provides an objective, measurable view of a process. Many of the symptoms described as related to APD are described differently by different people.
