Insomnia is a symptom, not a disease. Stress related to work, school, health or family concerns. Depression. Use of stimulants, including caffeine, alcohol, nicotine or other over-the-counter or prescription medications. Prescription drugs, including some antidepressant, high blood pressure and steroid medications, can interfere with sleep.
Many over-the-counter medications, including some brands of aspirin, decongestants and weight loss products, contain caffeine and other stimulants. And antihistamines can affect urinary problems. Change in environment or work schedule. Long-term use of sleep medications. Medical problems, including fibromyalgia or complex diseases of the nerves and muscles.

What is high cholesterol?
Cholesterol is a fat like substance that circulates in the blood and is produced by the body from dietary cholesterol and saturated fats in food. Cholesterol is not harmful if kept within acceptable limits.
It is used by the body to perform a variety of vital functions, including building and maintaining cell membranes, hormone synthesis, and the manufacture of Vitamin D. It is only when blood cholesterol levels become too high, that too much cholesterol can become a problem.

What causes constipation?
Most people have at least one bowel movement a day. However, bowel habits vary from person to person and less frequent bowel movements are not necessarily a sign of constipation.
Most doctors will agree, however, that anyone who has a bowel movement less than three times a week and passes hard stools can be said to be constipated.
Constipation happens to everyone occasionally, but some people suffer from chronic constipation which makes their lives a misery and each bowel movement a huge relief!

Dads and Daughters
Your role in your daughters life is made very significant because you are the first male that she will relate to and she will constantly be seeking your approval. Whenever possible you should encourage her in two main areas: skills and appearance. Take the time to go and watch her perform in school plays and sporting events and congratulate her on the skills she shows.

Type 1 Diabetes Results from the body’s failure to produce Insulin, the hormone that “unlocks†the cells of the body, allowing glucose to enter and fuel them. It is estimated that 5-10% of Americans who are diagnosed with Diabetes have type 1 Diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes Results from Insulin resistance (a condition in which the body fails to properly use Insulin), combined with relative Insulin deficiency. Most Americans who are diagnosed with Diabetes have type 2 Diabetes.

What is Raynaud’s Disease?
Raynaud’s disease is a condition of the circulation that affects blood supply to the skin and causes the extremities of the body to lose feeling and become numb. The symptoms of Raynaud’s are most commonly associated with cold and stress and sufferers of this condition will find their toes and fingers feel very cold or even lose sensation in response to a stressful situation or exposure to cold.

Urinary Tract Infection, (UTI) is a common ailment and can affect people of all ages, sex, and from all cultures. However, there are certain groups of people that are more prone to UTI than others. Women, for example, for reasons yet to be firmly established, carry a greater risk of UTI. Diabetic patients too fall under this category. Going further, pregnant women with Diabetes are probably amongst the most vulnerable to UTI.

Anxiety and depression in adolescence has been on the increase of late. A fairly significant 5 percent of the kids and teens population suffers from clinical depression. This clinical anxiety and depression should be understood as different from the loose manner in which we tend to use the words anxiety and depression. Depression is the extended feeling of sadness, hopelessness, pessimism and despair that desists the adolescent from carrying about normal daily activities required in life.

ADHD, a condition long associated with children, is also known to affect adults. Experts believe that this condition does not have an onset in adulthood. According to the Harvard Health Letter, it is estimated that about eighty percent of children who are suffering from ADHD will continue to be afflicted with this condition even as adults.
