The clinical diagnosis of ADHD has been around for some time now, and for those parents that have a child who have ADHD, there is no question in their minds that ADHD is a real problem, as opposed to being merely a short term adjustment, or attitude problem that a child might have. There are those that argue that ADHD doesn ‘t even exist as a real disorder, except as a way of classification within the school systems for the purpose of shuffling unruly student out of the way.
Researchers have argued for years on how to best identify the disorder, and opponents of dealing with ADHD as a physiological or even a mental disorder been throwing up all manner of ways to block effective therapy and treatments. Some going so far as to block any funding for school system special educations programs geared to help deal with the problems that ADHD bring to the classroom. The arguments have the two sides so embattled, that sometimes the true victims, (the children) loose out, becoming lost in the system ’s sea of paperwork and often poorly directed programs.
None the less, for the parent of an afflicted child, there is no question as to the reality of the problem or for that matter, the ineffectiveness of social, mental or educational programs set up to deal with it.
