Question
My daughter does well all during the term in her studies but unfortunately when it comes to exam times, her grades do not support this. What I noticed with her is that when we explain something to her she picks it up quickly and will remember for a day or two but just as quickly she forgets. Her teacher also pointed out to us that when it is exam time she is very anxious and tense. We have never given her cause for anxiety and always encourages her though at times we are disappointed but will not let her know. Is there something that you can recommend that will help her retain stuff in memory as well as eliminate
the nervous anxiety she has when exam times comes? Thank you.

Mass production has dealt a stunning blow to the customized product market of practically every product. Crib mattresses are one of the products that has been hit the hardest. It is becoming increasingly difficult to locate mattresses like the ones made by family run businesses that paid special attention to the customer’s needs and specific requirements.
Economies of scale have encouraged most mattress brands to use synthetic foam produced in huge plants. The only thing that distinguishes mattresses of one brand from another is the pillow top and fabric used to cover the same foam underneath.

Since time immemorial mothers have been swaddling their babies. Babies usually get disturbed while sleeping by their own movements. Swaddling can help them in getting a sound sleep and wrapping them up helps make them sleep comfortably. Swaddling also ensures that the baby gets a snug feeling. This feeling is similar to being hugged by a blanket and is closer to what they have been used to inside the womb. It gives a feeling of safety and protection to the baby ensuring a comfortable sleep.

On the face of it is seems difficult to believe that young children can suffer from insomnia. Insomnia is usually associated with adult conditions like tension and pressure and these are generally not associated with children.
Let us first understand how sleep patterns are formed in children. From birth to four weeks there is little that changes in the sleep-wake cycle. As the child approaches the age of 6 months sleep patterns start getting adjusted to a 24-hour cycle. This allows them to align themselves with night sleep and short daytime naps. As the child becomes a toddler, the sleep patterns are set accordingly by the ‘circadian clock’ or biological clock.

A new mother’s woes do not end with delivering a baby. She has to contend with another major concern – that of her baby’s safety along with the other demands that the baby has. Frightening statistics are published by different organizations that state that SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) is not the cause of infant deaths but improper bedding can also prove to be dangerous. Since the baby spends most of the time in the first year lying in bed, safe bedding plays an important role in ensuring the safety of your infant.

Anxiety and depression in adolescence has been on the increase of late. A fairly significant 5 percent of the kids and teens population suffers from clinical depression. This clinical anxiety and depression should be understood as different from the loose manner in which we tend to use the words anxiety and depression. Depression is the extended feeling of sadness, hopelessness, pessimism and despair that desists the adolescent from carrying about normal daily activities required in life.

When expecting a baby, we spend a lot of time in matching colors of the bedding with the crib and the nursery and stick to the established perceptions of which colors suit girls and boys. And all this thinking is done even though we know that the color of the bedding or the style of the curtains will not make any difference to the baby at all.

The way prices of almost everything are shooting up, every one wants to buy things at a discount to save money. Discount sales can only save you money if the product you are buying is what you actually need. The fact is that good and premium quality products get sold off first and the stores offer discounts on inferior brands, products or sizes that do not sell. In our desire to save money we fail to recognize that we may end up buying inferior quality products. These products need to be replaced faster than expected and therefore do not result in any actual or true savings.
