Most celebrities are like you and me regarding a healthy hatred of dieting. They would rather eat healthy, and then deprive themselves of the foods they love to eat. Knowing what to eat is almost as important as knowing when to eat it.
Everyone gets hungry during the day, so keeping a bowl of fruit on your table or desk can be a healthy way to satisfy a sweet tooth. Another great snack is a handful of dry-roasted nuts.

Metabolism is a set of organic processes that allows growth, reproduction and maintenance of bodily structures in all organisms, including humans. It is necessary for maintaining life. Part of what you eat is converted to energy (measured in calories), which is expended for performing body functions.
Even as you sleep, body functions like respiration, blood circulation and maintenance of body temperature must go on. The rate at which these organic processes are performed while you rest or are inactive is known as the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).

Great technological successes and access to all comforts at a click or a phone call has put the Western society in a position which is the envy of the underdeveloped world. However, there is a flip side to it also.
Modern day lifestyles that are more inclined towards materialistic gains have led to a situation where spirituality, diet and health are ignored at the cost of making it ‘big’ in life. What we fail to realize at times is that comforts and facilities are relevant and pleasurable only if we are in good health and are able to enjoy them.

Obesity has never been on the agenda of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) as it has not been a social or medical problem in China. The ancient Chinese theory is based on the Yin-Yang philosophy and the Five Elements. According to TCM, weight gain or obesity is caused by unhealthy yin-yang interaction and disturbances in the balance of functions of the body organs. When you eat, the food is digested, the nutrients are absorbed and the waste material is excreted. An imbalance of these three functions causes retention of water, fat or food in the body, leading to weight gain.

State policy seems to have done very little to curb the increasing incidence of obesity in America. Obesity is growing and practically all the States are finding it difficult to meet the national target of reducing obesity rates to less than 15%.
Obesity in adults is indeed alarming but what deserves more attention of the authorities is that 16% of children have a body mass index of 25.5 or above. This should be enough to raise the alarm as obesity is a major cause behind serious conditions like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and stroke. And therefore, obesity can ultimately have a direct affect on the average life expectancy of Americans.
