Yoga for Kids

Tess April 10th, 2007

Our children today are subjected to a lot of stress factors. There is homework that they have to do daily, the competition from other children, after school game activities and sometimes over-scheduling from parents.

And just like us adults these children need something relaxing to turn to and that Yoga could just be that instrument.

Yoga for kids helps then develop better awareness of their body, and also teaches them total self control, flexibility and coordination. All of these they could carry out not just in their Yoga classes but also in their daily routines as well.

Yoga For Men

All social categories and age groups can appreciate yoga as a relaxation method or even as a life style choice. Yoga practitioners investigated the physical and mental differences between men and women for a protracted time. In general, men are known to be less emotional than women and they frequently suppress their emotions. This can lead to stress and, eventually, to an increased hazard of heart problems.

ADHD Diet and Exercise in Children

Tess October 26th, 2006

It is believed that there are many possible causes for ADHD. Hence, ADHD treatment should be based on a multifaceted approach that should encompass medication, behavioral therapy, dietary intervention and exercise. A combined approach has been shown to have imparted the maximum benefit to the children diagnosed with ADHD. Of the various causes for ADHD, some important factors that are related to the diet are nutritional deficiencies, food allergies, food additives and heavy metal toxicity. Though there is no conclusive evidence to prove that a particular type of a diet will offer a positive benefit, experts agree that a well balanced diet and exercise can go a long way to help in managing this condition effectively.

How To Perform Yogic Exercises

Tess May 18th, 2006

When you have decided to start with your yoga practice, it is imperative for you to learn how to perform a pose properly. Thus it is advisable for you to find a right teacher who will guide you in the correct manner of performing these poses. Since yogic exercises involve the static and isometric contraction of the muscles, where the muscles are held in a state of tension without causing the corresponding body part to move; it is important to note that the stretching or contraction of the muscles should not be done abruptly or suddenly. You should endeavour to reach the final pose as slowly as you can, so that there is a steady rise in the tension of the muscles. Always reach the final posture slowly through the intermediate postures. Master all these postures slowly one by one.

Yoga - Something For Everyone

Tess May 2nd, 2006

There is no such thing as one kind of yoga. On the contrary, yoga encompasses spiritual techniques and putting these into practice to achieve a “state of enlightenment”.

Usually, the kind of yoga practiced in the US is Hatha yoga. Ha translates to sun and tha translates to moon. The goal of Hatha yoga is to attain unity of the mind, body and spirit through practicing asana (yoga postures), pranayama (yoga breathing), mudra (body gestures) and shatkarma (internal cleansings). Modern Hatha yoga focuses mostly on the yoga postures and does not emphasize many of the other facets.

One of the amazing things about yoga is that despite the great benefits that it produces, it requires no costs. There is not specific yoga training equipment that one has to use in order to obtain the desired results and there is no such thing as the perfect environment required for practicing yoga.
