Just like most diseases there are many risk factors for type 2 diabetes. The risk factors are obesity, sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy eating habits, a family history of diabetes, increased age, having high blood pressure or high cholesterol, and a history of having had gestational diabetes with a pregnancy.
Obesity is the number one risk factor for diabetes. As many as 60 million adults are obese, that equates to a lot of individuals who may be at risk for diabetes. The reason that obesity is a risk factor for diabetes is that fat interferes with the body’s ability to use insulin that the body manufactures.

You may have been told that your child has Asperger’s Syndrome (AS), a neurobiological disorder this is part of a group of similar conditions called “autism spectrum disorders”. These similar conditions can have different combinations and different degrees of severity of similar symptoms.
Any two children who receive the same diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome may have similar behavior patterns and different skills and abilities. These children with the same diagnosis of AS may have different terms used to describe them such as low-functioning, or high-functioning, or autistic tendencies, and pervasive developmental disorder.

Hyperactive thyroid is a term used to define a production disorder of the thyroid. Often termed as a thyroid condition called hyperthyroidism, it relates to a pattern of symptoms of thyroid problems regardless of the cause. Psoriasis is a disorder of the skin that affects over 6 million residents of the United States. Research has not definitively established what causes psoriasis, but some recent studies have indicated that it may be in immune-mediated disorder. Psoriasis occurs when the body generates too many skin cells.
Normal skin typically matures within a 28 to 30 day time period, but cells in the psoriatic skin area matures within less than one week. Psoriasis can change from one type to another and has been known to have several types active on a person at the same time.
