Even your choice of a toddler bath towel can help the planet

Home is considered to be a safe place, away from the madding crowds and the vagaries of the chaos and turmoil outside. But these days, with the infiltration of many products into our houses, it may not be exactly correct to state that our homes are perfectly safe and healthy.
Some of the greatest harms that you could bring upon yourself can occur right inside the ‘so called’ safe environment of your house.
From ammonia used to wash windows to mothballs and the formaldehyde given out by synthetic towels, there is no let up in exposure to toxic materials. The need of the hour is to educate your self of the harmful effects of such items of daily use. Not only do these harm us, these toxic products are harmful for the environment too.
Maintaining a safe home becomes even more essential when you have a baby at home. The first indication of pregnancy usually sets off the process of shopping for the baby. The choices that you make with regards to mattress sheets, towels and clothing can be a small step towards a safer home for your child and a greener planet. Organic baby products are totally safe as they do not use synthetic materials. No harmful chemicals are used while processing the fabric also.
The Green Movement has had a great impact upon the current generation. More people are becoming aware of the long term affects that our current lifestyle has upon global warming. All these can also affect the health of the next generation. Charity, they say, begins at home. It is never too late to start. There are safe alternatives for practically every toxic product that you might be using in your house.
If you get down to it, your baby comes in contact with clothes and other fabrics more than anything else. All synthetic products and fabrics give out harmful gaseous emissions that can cause respiratory problems and, believe it or not, insomnia.
The affect that such harmful products can have on the long term health of your baby is better left to imagination. Exposure to synthetics at such a small age can potentially make the baby more vulnerable to disease as he grows.
Opt for non-disposable diapers instead of the disposable ones that ultimately end up as a land-fill and decompose only after a hundred years. There is a wide range of organically produced baby products for babies. There are certain items, including toddler bath towels that can be used for a fairly long period of time and can be used even as the baby grows older.
