Yeast infection remedies

Reckless use of antibiotics, a diet that has high sugar content and refined foods, are the biggest contributors to yeast infections. Yeast infections like Candidiasis, an infection caused by fungi of the genus Monilia or Candida (especially Candida albicans)are the most common form of infections caused by yeast that convert to their fungal form once they are allowed to grow.

Symptoms of Candida vary and present themselves differently in people. Another typical characteristic of Candida symptoms is that they tend to change within the same person. If yeast infection treatment is not sought on presentation of early superficial infections, the disease can affect the entire system and manifest as different symptoms. It is common to listen to Candida patients complaining of digestive problems one day and of musculoskeletal pains the next day.

Candida cure is not complete unless the basic cause of yeast infection are not dealt with and removed. While topical creams and ointments are effective in relieving Candida symptoms to a great extent, they do not address the basic problem and the symptoms are most likely to recur.

Make sure that you desist from antibiotics unless absolutely unavoidable. Antibiotics are actually the wonder drugs that they are made out to be but they are meant for specific conditions. An antibiotic meant for stomach infection should not be taken for, say, throat infections simply because you happen to have some tablets left over from a previous prescription. Indiscriminate use of antibiotics kills friendly bacteria that are necessary for fighting the growth of Candida.

The second most vital factor is diet. If Candida growth has already happened, you may be required to eliminate fruits and high carbohydrate foods from your diet for sometime. These should be reintroduced only after there is a significant improvement in the symptoms.

Even after total remission, the diet should still be restricted so as not to promote Candida growth. Candida survives on sugar. Restrict intake of sugar to the bare minimum required for body’s energy needs and lay emphasis on meats, vegetables, eggs and yoghurt. Yoghurt is a natural source of acidophilus, the good bacterium that inhibits yeast growth and keeps your colon healthy.

Periodic colon cleansing is another natural way of eliminating yeast from your system. In fact, colon cleansing should be the first step before Candida treatments. Garlic has anti-fungal properties and is one of the easily available herbs. Raw garlic is better but if you find the smell offensive, use it liberally in cooking.

A deficient immunity indirectly results in Candida growth as the body’s self healing capacity is inhibited and cannot effectively keep a check on the growth of yeast. In the present day environment it is difficult to protect yourself from environmental and dietary pollutants unless you make a concerted effort to avoid them. Your goal should be to keep your home environment as free from pollutants as much as you can and stick to a natural lifestyle. Candida is beguiling and tricky yeast and once out of control can become extremely dangerous in its systemic incarnation.
