Question:
I recently ordered and received your product “focus” for my 8 year old child diagnosed with adhd. I was a bit concerned about the alcohol content in the product. Before returning this product to you can you tell me if there are dangers giving 1% alcohol to my child twice a day…
Janet
Answer:
Hi Janet
Thanks for your query. You are to be commended for taking such good care of your child’s health.
All herbal tinctures contain a small percentage of ethanol, which is pharmaceutical grade medicinal alcohol – along with distilled water. This helps to extract the active ingredients of the herbs and to keep them fresh and at full strength for many years.
In the case of all of our tincture remedies, including Focus, there is less than 0.1% per dose when diluted as directed – far less than most OTC cough and cold syrups.
However, if you are still concerned, you can evaporate the ethanol off the remedy by diluting in a little water just off the boil and leaving to cool before diluting further or drinking as is. This will ensure that no ethanol remains in the remedies and will not affect the strength of the herbs.
We hope that this helps to reassure you.
